I use it to do research (that I check): Mostly Perplexity.ai
I use it to tighten copy (and then do that final human overlay on the AI edit). Mostly Claude.ai
I use it to extract a bunch of 30-90 second clips from any audio or video I have (and then select the best few by hand). Opus.pro (You can try out the free version to get a sense of it.)
It is funny to read your post as just now I received an email from a client who wants a series of illustrated promotional postcards for the major holidays for his client. There was a really forgettable sample attached of what another artist provided. So I had to ask why his client didn’t like the provided image. I had my own thoughts, but lest I go off down a rabbit hole… Apparently the client has hired two different artists for this project and both delivered nearly the same image - which he suspects was created with AI and little thought. So they’ve come to me who doesn’t use AI at all. These other artists lost the larger project because apparently they let AI do their work for them. AI imagery may someday be a tool in my toolbox but it is only a tool. It doesn’t truly have any creativity. It’s a mimic. A skilled copyist. But it’s in the artist’s time spent thinking and experimenting where we find our value to others.
100%. I really think that at least with the quality of today's tools, we can feel the difference in AI output with no human overlay. Who knows, maybe it will get so much better that we won't. but I kinda doubt it.
As both a writer and as an illustrator, I discover a lot in the journey..mistakes that lead to aha moments. Or when I think I am writing one thing, then on rereading I discover that my subconscious was getting naked on the page and I find subtext that I hadn't intended. AI doesn't have memories of challenging life moments (yet). It doesn't know what feelings are, or the nuance of conflicting emotions (yet). Or understand subtle word play to work past complicated relationship dynamics.
This is an important perspective! And would you share here what AI tools you use and for what?
Of course!

It’s amazing how much we can uncover about ourselves through the creative process. Keep exploring and embracing those unexpected discoveries!
That’s a great point about the value of creativity and human thought in art. It’s important to bring something unique and personal to each project.
