Six and a half years ago

, Carolyn Gerin, and I published Road Map for Revolutionaries: Resistance, Activism, and Advocacy for All. A guidebook on how to be a more effective everyday activist…covering everything from applying economic pressure (hello, boycotts and buycotts) to protecting your privacy in the face of an increasingly surveillance-focused state to understanding how your government works (Civic 101) to our very first chapter on portests and marches, and why they mattr. Because they do.

Sadly, the book remains an evergreen resource.

In this afternoon’s live, I reviewed some of the helpful advice from our book on how to prepare before a march, how to know your rights during a march, and even basic things to do if arrested or teargassed. Check it out, especially if you’re headed out to one of the many April 5 events going on.
