Rest, reflect, recharge
This isn’t going to be a long newsletter. I simply want to wish you all a good and gratifying last 10 days of the year and new year. That may mean a lot of different things to each of us.
For me:
I hope to rest, read, and relax more than I have all year.
I am going to have a boosted/rapid-tested Christmas gathering with my boosted/rapid-tested immediate family…which is different and better than last year.
I’m going to do my usual review and refresh of my #notresolutionsjusthabits list for the upcoming year
Finally, I’m going to think a lot about how to get back my fighting spirit and optimism. No small feat. 2021 has tried me in big ways.
I would love to know your hopes and plans for these next 12 days or so. How will you spend this time that is (often, but not always) quieter, more protected from outside communication and inundation?
Particularly: What is better for you vs. last year?
And: How are you girding your loins to tackle 2022?
And finally, most of all, thank you so much for being a subscriber. I appreciate my community (and how you all stick by me as I try to find new places and spaces to be in communion with you that are not FB, excuse me, Meta). :)
Last week-ish
The Op-Ed Page podcast returned last week, and episode 71 was all about productivity and managing information overload. Plus I got to speak to an awesome woman founder and CEO, Aye Moah. We geek out about how we manage email, that’s how fun this conversation is!! (Plus I talk a little bit more about Stephen Sondheim.)
Plus:
If you missed the live stream, you can listen to my conversation with Megan Powers on the Making a Marketer podcast about how to engage positively with the press, and what the advice I give during media training and my advice about how to have productive dialog with those with whom you disagree have in common.
My latest byline for the Kinder Beauty blog is live: Forget resolutions. Try forming new habits. Here’s how I did it.
And The Rosie Report published a few great pieces that I shepherded:
Planning for a Plan B by Kathy Brunner
Be your own best boss and biggest client by Candice Kilpatrick Braithwaite
One good habit leads to the next, in work and in life by Brandi Riley
Enjoy the fruits of my labor y’all!
Coming this week-ish
All I have planned for the rest of the year (all 10 days of it) is the aforementioned rest, reflection, and re-charging. And getting the shingles vaccine, wish me luck!
Please leave a comment and let me know your thoughts on any or all of the above. This is basically my blog now! And as always I appreciate a share of this newsletter or my podcast.
And if I can help you break through the things that are keeping you stuck, or just want to brainstorm new habits you can set, set up your first introductory 30-minute consult for free by booking it in my Calendly.
Always so insightful dear Elisa! Thank you!
